Living Learning Community
What is a Living Learning Community?
Living Learning Communities (LLC’s) are a great opportunity for first-year students to connect to a smaller community and engage in unique experiences.
LLCs provide students with an opportunity to live with like-minded students who want to engage in a shared academic experience or a common interest. Being part of a Living Learning Community has a number of different perks.
Students will be able to….
- Connect, collaborate and engage with faculty and staff across the university
- Participate in specialized programming and engagements tailored to their specific student experience needs
- Engage with a smaller community of like-minded individuals
- Participate in classroom and out-of-classroom learning experiences that are exclusive to the LLC program
- Create study groups to assist in their academic success and progression to graduation
- Enjoy access to resources
Benefits:
- Live with a supportive peer network that shares a passion for academics, leadership, and creating positive change through service.
- Attend LLC-specific social programs providing opportunities to develop close friendships with other LEAD Scholars.
- Participate in LLC-specific opportunities to learn about enhancing your personal leadership style and leadership skills.
Housing Application
-
- It is important to complete a housing application as soon as possible, as housing is not guaranteed.
- Housing application instructions may be found on the Housing and Residence Life website.
- A confirmed status means that you have completed the application, signature, and prepayment, and received notification from Housing and Residence Life that you will have a space in Academic Year housing.
Program Acceptance
Please Note: Students must be admitted to LEAD Scholars Academy by 5/30 to be eligible for the LEAD LLC.
- Be accepted to LEAD Scholars Academy
- LEAD Scholars Academy staff will notify Housing of all students who are accepted into the program.
Room Selection
- Select a room in the LEAD LLC during LLC Room Selection day in June.
- It is important to note that all members of a roommate group must be in the LEAD program in order to live in the LLC.
- More communication will be sent from Housing and Residence Life about this process via email in May/June.
- If you are not intending to live in the LEAD LLC, you will proceed with online room selection during your scheduled room selection appointment, after LLC Room Selection day.
