Alice Neira

As a first-generation college student that did not know how to navigate the higher education system, especially in a large university, LEAD Scholars provided me the opportunity to be part of a smaller community. LEAD Scholars are like-minded individuals in the sense that scholars are enthusiastic and committed to servant leadership, but the diversity among scholars is incredible. LEAD Scholars allowed me to hone in on my strengths and develop values that guide me today. Many doors were opened because of participating in the program, including scholarship, research and leadership opportunities. Now, I serve as the Deputy Legislative Director for the Foundation for Florida’s Future, where I aid the advancement of student-centered education policies to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed
