How are you involved in the UCF and Orlando community?

During my time at UCF, I pursued my passion for mentorship by becoming a tutor at Academic Services for Student Athletes. I tutored in subjects such as chemistry, English literature, composition, intermediate algebra, and political science. I helped the athletes succeed so that they could continue participating on the field, while also instilling a sense of independence so that they could further their education autonomously.

I am currently an Honors Undergraduate Thesis scholar, and my thesis explores corrosive power structures and gendered work in dystopian fiction. UCF has supported this work through faculty mentorship and a $1,000 HIM scholarship. In regard to community service, I participate in the Student Accessibility Services note-taking program which provides notes for students with disabilities. This program is so important to me, as it allows students access to an education without fear of falling behind because of a disability.

What are your goals after you graduate?

I plan to obtain my doctorate in English Literature so that I can further my research on dystopian society, affect theory, and eventually teach in academia.
